The Welders Dog Armidale Electrical Transformation Project

Kelso Services was engaged to support the transformation of a 100-year-old heritage building into a modern boutique brewery and bar, delivering a comprehensive electrical and communications package tailored to the venue’s operational and hospitality requirements.

Kelso Services undertook the design, supply, and installation of all electrical infrastructure across the site, including general power outlets, feature and architectural lighting, and external safety lighting, ensuring the venue achieved both functionality and atmosphere. The project also included a full ESB upgrade, along with new submains and distribution boards, providing the capacity required for brewery operations and future expansion.

Specialised installations included power and control systems for brewery equipment, stage lighting and audio infrastructure, speakers, and power provisions for heaters and fans to support year-round operation. Kelso Services also delivered the site’s intruder alarm and CCTV systems, enhancing security across internal and external areas.

Sustainability and compliance were key project elements, with the installation of a solar PV system and dedicated solar distribution board, as well as emergency lighting, smoke detection, and code-compliant safety systems throughout the building.

Externally, Kelso Services completed the beer garden electrical works, including power and lighting and the connection of the external kitchen facilities, ensuring seamless operation across all hospitality areas. The project also included Essential Energy applications, design coordination, and approvals, supporting a smooth transition from heritage structure to fully operational venue.

The completed works delivered a reliable, modern electrical and services infrastructure while preserving the character of the original building, enabling Welders Dog Armidale to operate as a high-quality hospitality destination.
