Tamworth Mental Health Facility Communications and Infrastructure Project

Kelso Services successfully delivered the communications and infrastructure package for the Tamworth Mental Health Facility on behalf of Hunter New England Health. The project was completed over an 11-month period and involved the installation, integration, and commissioning of critical ICT and backbone infrastructure across the site.

Works included the supply and installation of more than 300 Category 6A field outlets, supporting core operational systems throughout the facility. These outlets were deployed across multiple services including General wall outlets, Phone and Printer dedicated points, CCTV, intercoms, building management systems (BMS), lighting control, and the wireless network, ensuring robust connectivity and future-ready performance.

Kelso Services used Commscope for this project and as a certified vendor were able to offer the client a full 20 year warranty.

Kelso Services also installed and commissioned seven 45RU server cabinets, forming the primary communications hubs for the facility. In addition, the scope included backbone fibre installation, internal fibre reticulation between floor distributors and the building distributor, and the relocation of existing fibre and telephony services to suit the new infrastructure design.

The project was delivered in a live healthcare construction environment, requiring careful coordination with multiple trades and strict adherence to program timelines, safety requirements, and healthcare standards. Kelso Services’ delivery ensured a reliable, high-performance communications backbone to support the facility’s clinical and operational needs.
