Rutherford Technology High School gate automation and security integration project

Kelso Services designed and delivered a comprehensive gate automation and security integration project at Rutherford Technology High School in accordance with the Department of Education ICT and School Security Specifications and Guidelines.

The project involved the supply and installation of three fully automated primary access gates, providing controlled entry and exit for staff, students, and authorised visitors. Each gate was equipped with card reader access for both entry and egress, integrated intercom systems, and CCTV surveillance coverage to enhance site security and operational control.

Supporting infrastructure included the installation of external communications cabinets connected via a new fibre backbone, along with network switch deployment and Category 6A structured cabling for all connected devices. Kelso Services also implemented surge protection across all underground cabling, delivered the required earthworks, underground conduit systems, and concrete works, and ensured all installations met DOE compliance standards.

Internally, the system included intercom answer stations, a dedicated lockdown control interface within the administration building, and a CCTV monitoring display, all fully integrated with the school’s existing Integriti alarm system to provide a unified security platform.

The project was delivered over a three-month period, with a dedicated team of six Kelso Services personnel on site throughout, ensuring efficient delivery, minimal disruption to school operations, and full compliance with safety and security requirements.
