Project Details

Kelso Services recently completed a tailored solar and battery solution for a commercial funeral home facility, delivering a high-performance energy system while maintaining the discreet aesthetic required for the site.

System Overview

  • 42 x AIKO 510W All-Black Panels
  • 20kW 3-Phase Sigenergy SigenStor Inverter
  • 6 x 8kWh Battery Modules (48.36kWh total storage)

This 21.42kW solar system, paired with substantial battery storage, was designed to significantly offset daytime operational loads while providing stored energy for extended operating hours and peak demand management.

The all-black AIKO panel array ensures a refined, low-visibility finish, aligning with the sensitive nature of the business. Equipment placement and layout were carefully planned to maximise solar efficiency while ensuring the system remained visually unobtrusive.

Site-Specific Design Considerations

As a commercial site operating multiple electrical switchboards (ESBs), detailed planning and electrical analysis were critical.

Kelso Services completed:

  • Comprehensive submain assessments
  • Voltage rise calculations to prevent network compliance issues
  • Load distribution analysis across multiple boards
  • Careful system integration into the existing electrical infrastructure

These measures ensured the solar system operated efficiently without adversely affecting voltage levels or site operations.

Full Electrical Switchboard Upgrade

To support the new solar and battery infrastructure, Kelso Services carried out a full electrical switchboard upgrade. This upgrade improved overall site safety, compliance, and capacity, ensuring the electrical system could reliably accommodate the new renewable energy assets while future-proofing the facility for continued operational growth.

Installation & Delivery

The project was delivered seamlessly by the Kelso Services team, with careful coordination to avoid disruption to daily operations.

The scope included:

  • Complete system design tailored to commercial load profiles
  • Installation and commissioning of solar and battery systems
  • Full switchboard upgrade
  • Compliance documentation and authority submissions
  • Performance testing and handover

At completion, the client received a fully integrated, turnkey commercial energy solution that reduces operational energy costs, enhances resilience, and aligns with modern sustainability expectations — all while preserving the professional and respectful presentation required for a funeral home environment.
